Description :
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Business associates degree with emphasis in accounting and/or at least 5 years experience in an accounting department, preferably in insurance or a related financial services industry
Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing
LOMA or other insurance industry courses a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
Self starter with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Must have hands-on PC experience, which includes a familiarity with Windows-based applications, specifically Word and Excel; familiarity with working in a mainframe environment and with accounting software; proficient 10-key skills
Demonstrated independent decision making capabilities
Must be able to manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines
Must be well organized and have the ability to set priorities
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process financial transactions for multiple significant accounting financial operations
Administratively, play a key role in the coordination, control, and tracking of an Accounting Department’s workflow and projects, as well as training and orientating new employees
Perform research and analysis of accounting transactions or trends, review workpapers, reconciliation’s, and schedules at the request of Finance Department management and other internal and external customers
Play a lead role in the initiation, research, and implementation of PC and mainframe automation projects, software conversions, and enhancements to improve customer service and the operating efficiency of the Controller’s Department
Provide clear, concise, accurate, and thorough responses to internal and external customer’s questions, inquiries, and research/analysis requests, some of which may be non-routine in nature
Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
