Under general supervision, provides a variety of clerical support services such as providing specialized, technical or program-specific information.


To be in attendance and on time.

Job Skills and Duties:

a. Answers multi-line phone, screens calls, responds to inquiries and/or refers to appropriate individuals or departments.

b. Greets and directs patients as they enter the medical clinic in a friendly manner. Assists with documenting arrivals, no shows and cancellations in RPMS.

d. Performs receptionist duties to include answering phones, routing calls,

and patient check-in. Assists patients with walk-in slips.

e. Proficient in message taking; includes date/time, caller, return phone number and brief summary of call. Ensures that appropriate staff member receives message in a timely manner.

f. Assists with medical appointment scheduling/re-scheduling. Knowledgeable regarding patient eligibility for services.

g. Strong computer skills to include MS Office and RPMS.

h. Assists with tracking data and generating reports for medical clinic.

i. Works cooperatively with providers to assure patients are able to access care. Assists patients with resources if unable to be seen at HWC clinic.

j. Readies program for operation in the morning. Follows closing procedures at end of day. Verifies that no confidential information is unsecured in reception area.

k. Facilitates proper documentation in handling minor patients.


Adheres to safety policies and procedures within the health program.
Reports inappropriate incidents by filing incident reports and forwarding the report to the H.I S.
Respond to emergencies in a calm and professional manner and report to designated area and or person in case of an emergency.


Represents Muckleshoot Indian Tribe (MIT) Health Program in a positive and professional manner when interacting with patients and the community.
Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations skills in dealing with staff, providers and management.
Consistently maintains confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines in regards to patient information as well as Health Program operations. Obtains appropriate ROI and faxes and receives confidential information according to procedures.
Communicates orally with customers, providers and staff. Assists customers with problems, complaints and service concerns. Utilizes appropriate phone etiquette.
Participates in staff meetings and departmental meetings.
Demonstrates effective written documentation skills.
Ability to handle difficult patients; either on the phone or in person.

Experience in medical front office procedures.
Experience in customer service
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written.
Knowledge in electronic health records.
Positive attitude with patients and other staff.
Prompt and dependable
Detail oriented.


1 Graduation from high school or equivalent required.

2. Two years experience in medical front office setting required.

3. Two years customer service background required.
