POSITION SUMMARY:
The Attendance Clerk is responsible for maintaining student attendance information at the assigned school site; meeting district, state and federal requirements relating to attendance processes including parent notification; preparing and distributing attendance reports. Accountable for processing paperwork, reports, records requests and communicate essential at the campus level. This position may include overseeing student workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Track daily student attendance, verify legitimacy of student excuses, prepare, and communicate necessary attendance reports.
Manage student files and records including the input, maintenance, and reporting of student information required for SISK-12.

Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained for Normandy’s students and families in accordance with applicable law and district policy.

Communicate with parents, students, staff, etc. in person, by telephone or letter for the purpose of providing information on a variety of attendance issues and meeting district and state absence notification requirements.
Ensure accuracy of attendance records, including verification of forgeries and truancies for the purpose of complying with State laws governing attendance accounting.
Maintain a variety of attendance records, schedules, and files (paper and electronic) (e.g., contact and telephone logs, student attendance, school calendars, etc.) for the purpose of providing reliable information in compliance with district policies.
Prepare sort and file various student records including those regarding discipline and attendance.
Prepare a variety of reports, written materials and correspondence.
Communicate with parents, students and staff regarding enrollment and attendance.
Keep principal, guidance counselor and teachers informed of changes and areas of concern including but not limited to student records, registration, drop/add, enrollment and attendance.
Convene and oversee the Attendance Recovery Team (ART), including creating and disseminating letters to parents of students with excessive absences.
Provide administrative support to the building administration, including receiving visitors, taking phone calls, and setting appointments. (provide lunch and breakfast coverage)
Other duties as assigned by district or building administration.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalency certificate is required.
Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.
Previous work experience in an office setting is preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.
Familiar with budget and publishing software such as Quicken and Adobe.
Knowledge of basic office equipment such as computers, multi-line phones, fax machines, and scanners.
Demonstrates ability to think creatively.
Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to provide assistance to the school community as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The majority of working hours will be spent in an office setting
The noise level in the work environment is usually at a moderate level with frequent interruptions.
Light physical activity such as walking and standing is required on a daily basis
Occasionally, the employee may lift up to 20 pounds to lift files, papers and equipment.
Some local travel to complete office errands and may be necessary to various District buildings and/or sites.
