Responsibilities:
Reviewing appropriate systems to determine an employee’s pension plan eligibility, determining if the employee has pension service during martial period in question, determining if the employee has a vested pension benefit, and reviewing 401k account information.
Reading/Reviewing legal documents (divorce decrees, settlement agreements, etc.) to determine if there is an adverse interest related to an employee’s pension and/or 401k plans. Drafting appropriate response letters. Updating appropriate systems.
Making determinations, based on plan procedures and system data, if submitted QDRO (Qualified Domestic Relations Order) documents meet the plan’s requirements and will be qualified, pre-approved or rejected. Drafting thorough and appropriate response letters that either pre-approve, qualify, or reject Orders. If rejecting, making sure the reasons for rejection are clear, concise, and complete. Updating appropriate systems.
Reviewing previously placed holds on Participant pension and 401k accounts at set intervals to determine their validity and drafting a follow up letter or hold release letter as appropriate.
Being mindful of clients Service Level Agreements and ability to manage own workload to meet the agreements while working on multiple clients.
Responding well to constructive feedback on work product and completing rework as/when identified by quality reviewer.
Responding to incoming calls from employees, ex-spouses, and attorneys with a variety of questions related to the general QDRO process or the status of the review of submitted QDRO and legal documents.
Skills required:
Well-organized with a strong attention to detail

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
Sense of responsibility and accountability
Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Responds well to constructive feedback
Pleasant and confident phone manner
General knowledge of “pension and 401k plans” a plus
“Legal” background a plus
Virtual position, but want employees to live in NJ area for occational meetings on-site.
