Since 1975 Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) has been an essential part of the Kansas City metro. Our mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault, and to prevent sexual violence in our community. MOCSA is seeking a candidate with leadership skills centered around youth and community, with experience in prevention or crisis management that has creative skills and the ability to build and continue school partnerships, to join our dynamic organization of diverse, dedicated and innovative individuals.
SUMMARY
Organize and build capacity of community-based sexual violence intervention and prevention efforts in the greater Kansas City area.
JOB OBJECTIVES
Supervision
Recruit, train and supervise Prevention Specialists, interns, and volunteers.
Program Coordination & Development
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other professionals and organizations to expand primary prevention outreach program services.
Listen and respond to customer needs and concerns.
Provide assistance with oversight of data collection and reporting.
Assist with program development and grant reporting.
Leadership
Provide leadership and assistance with organizational committees and projects.
Promote collaboration with and among the community.
Education
Facilitate sexual assault and sexual abuse education and prevention programs to youth and adult community members.
Inform victims of sexual violence of their rights and services available to them.
Perform outreach activities through contact with community partners.
Represent MOCSA at community events and meetings.
Crisis Intervention
Provide crisis intervention, hospital advocacy, and volunteer management for survivors of sexual assault and abuse during business hours and afterhours when on-call.
The responsibilities described represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to do all assigned responsibilities. Grant funds may only be used for the provision of approved activities.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Minimum Qualifications
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a human-services related field and/or equivalent education and experience. This position requires 2 years of experience in program coordination/implementation in one or more of the following areas; crisis intervention, violence prevention, youth programs, and/or public speaking. Experience working with diverse communities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a human-services related field. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication, strong attention to detail, and organizational and problem-solving skills. Experience with supervising or leading teams, community mobilization, grants, and quality assurance. Bilingual Spanish.

Work is typically performed in an office environment. WORK HOURS
This is a full-time position; business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL
Frequent travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area to perform program coordination duties.
