Job Description:
Your New Role – Custodian
As part of a team, this position provides safe, clean, and sanitary building environments for State owned buildings.
Work is performed Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. which leaves your weekends and evenings free for other activities!
Some of what you’ll do:
Safety checks and emergency response services as needed to State owned buildings.
Care of floors – Sweeping, wet/dry mopping, detail vacuuming, and disinfecting.
Cleaning and maintenance to kitchen areas – Clean, sanitize, and restock according to Service Level Agreement.
Daily care of all restrooms in assigned building – Clean, sanitize, and restock according to established restroom cleaning procedures.
Cleaning and maintenance of the custodial equipment and storage area, grounds areas as required, and additional custodial duties as assigned. For a full review of the position details and duties assigned, please click

Working conditions:
Standing and walking during entire shift on concrete, tile, and carpeted surfaces.
Position requires repetitive lifting, pushing, and pulling of custodial equipment such as: trash containers, trash/restroom carts, and upright/backpack vacuum cleaners (up to 50 pounds).
Position requires repetitive bending, reaching, twisting, and occasional climbing on a ladder and occasional, short-term periods of heavy physical activity.
Position may require some outside work during inclement weather, as well as the use of chemicals for sanitation.

What We Are Looking For
Highly organized and team-oriented individual who is at last 18 years of age, has basic computer skills, and has gained at least 4 months of professional work experience as a custodian.
This position also requires the ability to push/pull heavy custodial equipment, walk/stand for extended periods of time, crouch, and stoop and bend repeatedly with or without accommodation.
The most successful candidates will also reflect the following skills, attributes, and experience:
A self-starter who excels in their customer service skills and their quality of service.
Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to pro-actively identify work that needs to be done.
Experience using small hand tools and equipment, green cleaning agents/solutions, and ladders with attention to safety.
Experience cleaning large commercial buildings, as well as residential homes in a professional setting.
Experience monitoring office buildings daily for cleanliness and serviceability, reporting maintenance problems, and working collaboratively within a team to execute duties.
Time management skills with the demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage daily duties, and complete assigned tasks by order of importance with minimal supervision.
Preference may be given to those who have a current and valid driver’s license.
