$28.00 – $33.00 per Hour DOE
The Training Program provides mandated training for the Home Care Aides from CCS and other agencies. Home Care provides non-medical in-home care services such as: toileting, ambulation, personal care, cleaning, meal preparation, shopping and transportation to elderly and disabled persons. DSHS authorizes services or clients may pay directly.
Under the direction of the Training Program Supervisor and the Training Service Director, the Home Care Training Instructor is responsible for providing caregiver training using a set curriculum. Using adult education techniques, a person in this position imparts knowledge of subject matter pertinent to home care to assist caregivers to improve and maximize delivery of home care services to seniors and people with disabilities. Instruction includes lecture, facilitated role-playing, and hands-on demonstrations.
A person in this position may provide training using pre-approved Home Care Aide Basic Training curriculum, Continuing Education curriculum, or pre-approved curriculum as named later.
While the majority of the Home Care Training Instructor’s job is teaching in front of a class, she/he also is responsible for assorted paperwork, data collection, and documentation associated with training.
A person in this position must have flexibility to train in multiple training sites or locations. Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply.
Provide training using pre-approved Home Care Aide Basic Training
curriculum,Continuing Education curriculum, or pre-approved curriculum as named later
Demonstrate skills – including the physical ability to perform tranfers.
Responsible for assorted paperwork, data collection, and documentation associated with training.
Flexibility to train in multiple training sites or locations.
Travel to regional offices as necessary.
Other duties as may be reasonable assigned.
Qualifications which applicant must possess to be considered for position; the only exception would be if applicant possessed appropriate substitute qualifications. These minimum qualifications are not negotiable unless specifically noted below.
High school diploma and one year professional or Caregiving experience within the last five years in: Adult Family Home, Boarding Home, Supported Living, Home Care setting OR
Associates degree in a health field and six months experience in: Adult Family Home, Boarding Home, Supported Living, Home Care setting.
100 hours of experience teaching adults on topics directly related to the basic training OR
40 hours teaching adults while being mentored by an instructor who meets these qualifications AND
Must attend a class on adult education. The class must include content, student practice, and evaluation of student skills by the instructor in:
o Adult education theory & practice
o Instructor facilitation techniques
o Facilitating learning activities for adults
o Administering competency tests
o Working with adults with special training needs (ESL or language/literary issues)
Must have valid Washington State Driver’s License and at least the minimum automobile insurance coverage required by the State of Washington.
Ability to travel to office locations.
Ability to carry audiovisual equipment
Experience in a Windows environment using Word and Excel.
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must pass a background investigation
