*Job Purpose: *Function as a Medical Assistant, Non-Certified or Certified (MA-1) in a team and mission-based setting to assist with direct patient care procedures and related tasks, through joint planning and problem solving, assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of a licensed provider and Clinical Program Coordinator.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Adheres to the spirit of Waterfall Community Health Center to remove barriers to care and our mission statement while performing assigned duties.
Demonstrate the core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Partnership, and Collaborative Communication.
Participates in team huddles and works with the team to ensure appropriate pre-visit preparation including culturally and linguistically appropriate services.
Completes intake interviews for new and returning patients according to the established procedure including counseling patients/families on their role, and WCHC’s role, in a medical home.
Prepares patients for examinations consistent with the purpose of the appointment.
Responsible for knowing and following clinical policy and procedure, including documenting all patient interactions in Epic in a manner consistent with professional standards.
Performs related duties necessary to ensure quality patient care as requested by supervisor, including addressing barriers when the patient has not met treatment goals.
Assists providers with exams of patients or any special procedures.
Processes phone calls, refills and MyChart communications from patients routing as appropriate, and responding in a timely manner.
Administers treatments and performs screening tests at the direction of the provider.
Cleans and stocks rooms and disinfects exam room tables, treatment and lab surfaces daily.
Performs supervised laboratory procedures as approved by the Laboratory Director (Chief Medical Officer).
Assists with documentation during patient visits, as needed.
Processes prior authorizations for medication and procedures in a timely manner
Performs any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credentials from the National HealthCare Association (NHA)
Experience with women’s health is highly desirable
6 months of healthcare experience, preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Experience with electronic health records (EHR), such as EPIC, highly desirable
Immunizations Required:
Hepatitis B and COVID
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk working at a computer.
Repetitive use of hand motion, some reaching bending and/or lifting of up to 20 pounds
Exposed to sick people
