Nutrition Services III – Lead – Trillium Creek Primary School

This is an 6 hour/day, 10 month position under the Classified Bargaining Agreement. The start date is 08/24/2022.

DEFINITION:
Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Manager receives direction from the Cook Manager, assists with the food preparation, serving, and cleanup activities in a school kitchen, and performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This position is distinguished from other nutrition services positions in the degree of complexity of the food preparation tasks and added responsibilities in the kitchen. Employees in this position perform duties at a middle or high school only. The customer base at
middle and high schools is significantly higher. Employee will provide additional food offerings, maintain higher inventories, and perform additional record keeping requirements at these sites. Must beproficient with using a computer.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties include but may not be limited to: provide sound customer service; hot or cold food prepwork, cook, package and assemble food, cleanup; cash handling and deposit entries; site specific catering; maintain records such as daily time, temperature, and production records; maintain sanitation standards in accordance with health/federal department codes; maintain equipment; process work orders; cross train with other positions to fully understand and be able to perform all of meal service; be able to take task assignment from the Nutrition ServicesManager and/or Cook Manager; fill in when an absence occurs; In addition the NutritionServices III employee maintains site inventory; performs daily ordering from a base kitchen; maintains on-site cash handling; trains Nutrition Services I employee assigned to the kitchen in cooking and accounting (cash or meal software system); oversees that all necessary tasks to accomplish the meal program are completed daily; attends Nutrition Services departmental meetings as the representative
for assigned kitchen; check email for the kitchen daily and disseminate information accordingly to coworkers; be in compliance with district training requirements and; other duties as assigned.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:

Methods of procuring preparing and assembling all menu items for service;
Operation, cleaning, and caring for kitchen utensils and equipment;
District serving standards and specifications;
Cash handling and maintenance of recipes, ingredient lists and production records;
Standards of sanitation for personnel and food;
Must be proficient in using a computer and related software programs;

Ability to:

Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students, fellow employees, and the general public;
Read, write, and follow oral and written instructions with little supervision;
Prepare and assemble all menu items for serving;
Operate equipment safely in school kitchens;
Implement district nutrition and serving standards and specifications;
Complete cash and ticket record forms necessary for district lunch count sheet;
Recognize andreport quantity and quality needs of serving location to Cook Manager or Nutrition Services Manager.
Maintain confidentiality in all phases of work, i.e. records, meetings, parent rights, etc.
Must routinely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance;
Complete all district required trainings.

Experience:
Experience in a quantity food preparation and service in a commercial kitchen preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent as required by Oregon Administrative Rules, Oregon Department of Education.
Possession of a food handler’s card (Clackamas County).
