Patient Financial Counselors (internally known as Patient Advocates) play an important role at Spokane Eye Clinic and have the pleasure of helping patients get financial authorization or understanding their financial options. Being a Patient Advocate allows you to contribute to our mission and beliefs that eyes are among our most precious tools and much of our quality of life depends on these windows to the world.

Our “A Game” candidate will deliver exceptional customer service, possess solid attention to detail, easily switch gears as needed to handle various tasks throughout the day while meeting deadlines. Reliable transportation is a must as team members may rotate between each of our 4 Spokane clinics as needed. Schedules may include rotating start times during the week based on business needs, with shifts between 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Come join our team, where teamwork is the norm, energy is contagious, and your ability to make an impact is endless.

Starting Wage: $18.25 to DOE

What is a Patient Advocate?

Relationship builder: The Patient Advocate acts as a “liaison” between patient, providers, and insurance carriers to offer proficiency when working through pre-authorizations, verifying insurance benefits, providing patient out of pocket quotes, and advising patients by phone or face-to face in financial situations.
Knowledgeable: The Patient Advocate is a reliable source of information for patients and remains continuously updated on patient resources.
Creative problem solvers: The Patient Advocate finds creative solutions to resolve insurance barriers so patients can be treated timely.
Organized information managers: The Patient Advocate assists and advises the patient in obtaining financial sources to finance their obligations.
Interdepartmental Support System: The Patient Advocate works closely with Patient Account Representatives and to understand and support the billing process and billing functions.
A Confidence Keeper: Maintains integrity through guarding the confidentiality of patient records.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma (or GED)
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications to include ability to type at least 40+WPM. Experience with Physician Practice Management, and Electronic Health Record applications preferred.

Per Governor Inslee’s Proclamation 21-14.5 , employees of healthcare institutions must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or qualify and be approved for an exemption.
