Position : Portfolio Manager
As a Portfolio Manager at Lakeland Bank you will be directly responsible for managing CML Portfolio’s of existing clients. The Portfolio Manager will nurture and expand the relationships to best serve the clients account. You will consistently identify the needs of the clients to recommend and deliver appropriate products and services. Ultimately, you are responsible for managing a large portfolio of loans.
Manage internal staff, including analysts and administrative employees, in the growth and maintenance of a large middle market and commercial lending portfolio.
Deliver timely and accurate underwriting of renewals, modifications, extensions and new loan requests for existing customers and prospects.
Promptly address delinquencies, loan maturities, and documentation exceptions. Maintain up-to-date credit files Prepare Problem Loan Reports
Accurately submit closed loans to Loan Operations for booking; request Laser-Pro documents; send documents to customers and follow-up for signed documents Follow up on monthly submission of borrowing base certificates; review for correctness and prepare Loan Conformity Charts.
Follow up on insurance on an on-going basis with customer and back office.
With input from relationship managers, structure and present new loan requests for approval, and underwrite specific credit requests as required for entire team, including your own portfolio.
Organize and prioritize work-flow to ensure highest priorities are addressed on a timely basis.
Grow and maintain the PM’s existing portfolio of relationships with current exposure in excess of $120MM. Develop business opportunities through the existing loan portfolio and contact with COI’s. Meet and exceed goals to be assigned based on team goals, staffing levels and performance criteria of the Bank.
Develop business opportunities through branch referrals.
Review loan documentation in adherence to the approval and Bank Policy. Attend loan closings.
Monitor delinquencies, overdrafts and financial indicators of potential loan repayment problems.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a 4-year college degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
3-7 years direct “line” experience in commercial lending, underwriting or portfolio management
Skillset sufficient to translate analytical skills into recommendations in support of loan decisions
Willingness and ability to work closely with Business Banking Officers, the retail branch and commercial lending areas at times
Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills, sufficient to accomplish every aspect and task in the life cycle of a loan
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Willingness and ability to provide guidance to others at the same or subortinate level
Must be bondable
Preferred candidate will be or possess:
Formal credit training
Familiar with credit decisioning software
