Organization
Oregon Rural Action (ORA) is a grassroots, culturally diverse, and community-led organization in Eastern Oregon working to promote social justice, agricultural and economic sustainability, and the stewardship of the region’s land, air, and water. Through community organizing, public conversations, and policy advocacy, we are building a rural movement for the well-being of all people and our environment.
Core Functions
The Rural Energy Organizer will conduct relational one-on-one meetings and small group conversations; identify and build a base of local community leaders; identify, research, and assess organizing opportunities for rural community-led initiatives involving renewable energy; assess the disproportionate impact of climate change on rural low income and communities of color; network with statewide coalitions and organizations; monitor current statewide and national public policy developments; build relationships with public decision-makers at the local, state and national levels; identify organizing issues and develop an overall community-led organizing campaign.
