Description :
The Vice President of Community Impact will be responsible for creating, implementing, and activating our strategy for our non-profit, Royals Charities and Urban Youth Academy and their presence in the Kansas City community. The VP will oversee the four pillars of Royals Charities:
Military
Children
Education
Youth baseball and softball throughout Kansas City
The Royals prioritize the need to enhance the well-being of our inner-city youth and are proud to operate the Urban Youth Academy. We aim to provide access, resources, coaching, mentoring and advocacy to youth to help them reach their own potential through sports development and programming.
As a part of the Royal’s leadership team, the Vice President will be responsible for the community engagement strategy for the KC Royals including philanthropy, community partnerships and activations. This role also oversees our alumni collaboration efforts and the KC Royals Hall of Fame. In aligning with our players and key personnel we strive to be stewards of our community and its needs.
This position will report directly to the Chief Revenue Officer and will work closely with all departments to ensure all community outreach, programs, youth camps/clinics and corporate partnerships ladder up to our mission and values – both internally and externally.
The right candidate must be a community builder and a change-maker at heart, with the drive to roll up their sleeves and help build an innovative approach to the partnership with a team and the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Works with ownership and senior leadership to develop a long-range strategic plan and annual operating plans and budgets that deliver on vision and mission.
Canvas Metropolitan Kansas City to have a strong grasp of the social impact landscape; identify opportunities to maximize impact; seek out potential collaborations and partnerships.
Manages and oversees the implementation of all social impact programs as well as conducting periodic program reviews to assess outcomes and effectiveness.
Works with team to strategize and develop social impact initiatives while building relationships with key community partners and stakeholders; serve as a community ambassador for The Royals.
Ensures effective engagement and integration of ownership, senior leadership, baseball personnel, players and associates into the vision and direction of the Royals community impact strategy.
Works with communications team, as well as marketing, digital and social teams to develop and distribute compelling storytelling and content that reinforces organizational values and mission.
Creates best practices, and case studies and guide The Royals organization and leadership within the area of social impact and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Manages social impact donation, programming and foundation budget and monitor spend to deliver results in line with planned objectives.
Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in related field, master’s degree preferred.
10-15 years of previous experience within a similar role(s) including community, social or non-profit experience.
Strong expertise in managing relationships, networks and teams that include a diverse group of people representative of the public and private sectors, community-based organizations, nonprofit and civic leadership as well as program beneficiaries.
Proven effectiveness in driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes and cross-team projects to desired results.
Excellent communicator– both written and verbal with the ability to distill complex information into simple messages and concise communication materials, tailored for the audience.
Hands-on approach as well as strong prioritization skills, ensuring that the team is working on the right things at the right time. They will be able to effectively balance a wide range of challenges, from short-term impact to long-term growth expectations.
Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality for initiatives throughout community and organization.
